Description :

A cultivar from Ernst Pagels

Miscanthus sinensis 'Grosse Fontäne' is an imposing grass with long, arching leaves which have a white midrib.

Its flowers are equally spectacular. Abundant feathery inflorescences that start off pink and end up silver later in the autumn.

In the garden, we can use it:

  • as a backdrop for a perennial bed together with Cortaderia and other Miscanthus;
  • planted alone, as a focus plant, to show off its splendid architectural habit.

Gardener's tip: light is a key factor in a decor. The touch of evening or morning light illuminates the inflorescences of grasses and if we add a light morning frost in the winter it's simply sublime!

Height: 150 to 250 cm. Planting distance: 120 cm.  Grow in ordinary, fertile soil that is not too dry in the summer.

Maintenance: cut the stalks back at the end of winter before the new growth. Can be slow to get established. Hardiness: - 20°C.
