A marvellously vibrant variety
Kniphofia 'Mango Popsicle' was introduced in 2010 into the Popsicle series by North American breeder Terra Nova Nurseries. It is one of their most vibrant and marvellous varieties.
Such great qualities! A compact habit, long flowering period from summer through to mid-autumn, and it is a fast grower. Let's add to that it tolerates summer drought and is very easy to grow. And last, but not least, its colouring is magnificent! A soft, luminous mango orange.
In the garden Kniphofia 'Mango Popsicle’ can be planted en masse for quite spectacular effects. We like to plant Kniphofia 'Mango Popsicle' in the middle of a bed to combine and contrast its mango orange verticality with the purple-reds of Echinacea or Salvia, the cream of Coreopsis, with scabious or the grey blue of Nepeta.
An excellent plant for container growing.
Grow in the sun in ordinary, well-drained, slightly acid to neutral (pH 6-6.8) soil, which can be rocky. Avoid heavy soils which are wet in winter. Hardiness: -10°C
Regularly prune the dried floral spikes. Let the soil dry out before watering again to avoid excess damp. Avoid organic mulch which can cause the plant collet to rot in winter. Grow preferably in a rockery or gravel garden
