Dianthus spiculifolius is native to Romania (Eastern Carpathians) where it is endangered due to the eutrophication of its natural environment.
We have managed to obtain seeds which we are sure will delight plant collectors.
This is a very attractive alpine rockery variety with
- red-centred white flowers from May to August,
- bluish foliage and a compact habit,
- flowers: 25 cm in height,
- and, of course, the scent of a Dianthus.
Grow in the sun in ordinary, very well-drained, slightly acid to alkaline soil. (pH 6.2 to 7.8) Hardy. Suitable for a rockery, trough or gravel garden.
