A deep blue for a rocky bank
A member of the Boraginaceae family, the Lithodora genus (lithos = stone, dora =present) is native to the Mediterranean basin.
Garrigue. Sun. Heat. Blue skies !
Truly Mediterranean, this sub-shrub likes sun and sandy soils that are poor, stony and dry. As it prefers acid soil, Lithodora diffusa 'Heavenly Blue' or Blue Lithospermum can accompany heathers in rocky terrain under pine trees.
Lithodora diffusa 'Heavenly Blue' is a compact ground cover and considered to be one of the most free-flowering cultivars, as it produces gentian-blue blooms throughout the summer.
