Acanthus 'Whitewater' is a new 2013 variety from the United States. It adds a touch of fantasy in a partial shade garden with:

  1. variegated leaves with cream-white edges,
  2. unusual creamy white summer flowers with a hint of pink in the centre,
  3. Acanthus 'Whitewater' tolerates heat and humidity. It is a very vigorous and hardy variety.

We use it on the edge of a shady bed as a focus plant for its very noticeable foliage.

Grow in partial shade in good, fertile, well-drained garden soil.

Maintenance: prune damaged leaves at the end of the winter and deadhead flowers and stems. Mulch with leaf mould in the spring before the new shoots appear.
