Heuchera 'Obsidian' comes to us from the United States where it was bred by Terranova Nurseries. Introduced into the catalogue of ornamental plants in 2003, Heuchera' Obsidian' is much appreciated in the heuchera world, because:
- it is easy to grow and vigorous;
- its thick, shiny leaves perform well in the sun or partial shade;
- and, last but by no means least, its deep purple and sometime black satin colouring is exceptional!
In the garden, you can create some startling contrasts with this black Heuchera by combining it with golden-leaved varieties. For a contemporary effect, plant it en masse in a partial shade border or trough. With shades of grey (violet grey). Very classy!
Cream-white flowers. Grow in a pot or border in good garden soil in the sun (not scorching) or slight shade.
Height: 35 cm (foliage). Planting distance: 60 cm.
