Sweet scented violet!
A beautifully-shaped, free flowering variety with large, deliciously-scented mauve blooms.
Sweet scented violet is a hardy perennial that propagates through stolons about 30 centimetres in length. It is naturalised throughout Europe and the variety we offer produces abundant, deliciously-scented mauve flowers.
Ideal for bouquets. Grow Viola odorata in humus-rich soil in slight shade as a small ground cover under shrubs, trees or a light woodland setting. Does not like too much damp in the winter.
To make the most of the scent, you can grow this violet in pots in a shady corner of an alpine greenhouse in a mixture of equal parts good, sieved leaf compost, loam and 5 mm pozzolan (or 5 mm gravel).
