Lamium maculatum 'Aureum'

Availability : Available

Description :

A bright golden cushion

Lamium maculatum is native to Europe and Asia Minor, where it thrives in understory, on slopes and banks and in subalpine meadows. The spotted dead nettles are easy to grow, withstand temporary drought and provide good, but not invasive ground cover, as they are very manageable.

Lamium maculatum 'Aureum' has small chartreuse-yellow leaves and delicate purple-pink flowering in beautiful, refined and luminous bunches. It grows well under shrubs, hydrangeas or rhododendrons.

For a shady border, understory garden or shady patio. Grows well in pots.

A sparkling twosome: Hosta x tardiana 'Halcyon' (bluish foliage) with a little underneath carpet of Lamium maculatum 'Aureum'.

Grow in partial shade in good, light, well-drained garden soil. Very hardy. Height: 15 to 20 cm.

Avoid heavy, damp, compacted or dry soils.

To ensure good quality foliage it is worth cutting back Lamium maculatum 'Aureum' at the beginning of spring.

It will grow in the sun (not scorching) in moist soil. If it is too exposed, the leaves will blacken.
