Description :

Giant Japanese Butterbur or Fuki

Petasites japonicus 'Giganteus' is native to China and Korea and its exuberant foliage makes it quite spectacular. Carefully planted on the edge of a pond, its large orbicular leaves produce a perfectly theatrical effect. Height: 120 cm - 180 cm. Unfortunately, this chlorophyll beauty can quickly become a plant plague. You can solve this potential problem by installing a resin or metal root barrier ;-)

It’s also possible to grow this giant plant in a large tub on a shady patio as a superb specimen with an architectural habit.

Petasites japonicus 'Giganteus' is a semi-aquatic plant which likes light shady or sun (not scorching), good garden soil that is kept moist to damp (up to 10 cm of water).

In the summer, if the soil is not damp enough or if there is too much heat, the plant droops like a limp lettuce :-(( …

... but perks up again in the evening :-))

- 1 litre pot

- Hardiness zones : zone 7-10
- Height: 70 to 100cm
- Plant spacing: 80 cm

- Flower colour: white
- Flowering period: spring flowers
