The Gillenia genus of the Rosaceae family includes only two species, originally from the moist woodlands of North America.
Gillenia trifoliata develops graceful, deeply-ribbed leaves divided into three lobes.
Gillenia trifoliata 'Pink Profusion' differs from the type species with its superbly diaphanous light pink flowers, its red stems and bronze-green leaves in the spring, which take on tints of purple-red in the autumn.
Its original environment tells us about its growing conditions. We plant this rare variety in a cold spot, partial shade, in acid to neutral, moist, humus-rich soil. Slow growing. Very hardy.
