Introduced by Terra Nova Nurseries (Oregon, USA), Heucherella 'Golden Zebra' forms dense, vigorous clumps of golden yellow leaves deeply marked with purple red.
Heucherella 'Golden Zebra' is a cross between Heuchera x Tiarella and has kept the best traits of both. It owes the exceptional colouring of its foliage to the Heuchera genus and, to the Tiarella genus, it deeply lobed leaves with red markings in the centre and, not least of all, increased resistance to summer drought.
In the garden we plant it in well-lit undergrowth, near trees, as edging for a shady border or under hostas in moist, humus-rich, well-drained garden soil.
Grows very well in pots together with Carex testacea 'Prairie Fire' and the little Sedum rupestris 'Angelina'.
Maintenance: this semi-evergreen plant simply needs its damaged leaves pruned at the end of winter.
