A great favourite!
Gold Fountains Sedge is native to South-East Asia (the woodland hills of Japan and Taiwan). This variety has delicate green, yellow-edged foliage all year round*.
Hardy and long-lived, Carex dolichostachya 'Kaga-Nishiki' goes superbly well with the jewels of the partial shade: Pulmonaria, Primula, Ajuga, Corydalis, Heuchera, ferns, etc.
For borders and shady rockeries.
Grow in humus-rich, moist, well-drained soil in slight shade. Works very well in pots.
* Evergreen foliage in mild climates.
