Dymondia margaretae

Availability : Available

Description :

A carpet plant for dry areas near the sea

Native to South Africa (Western Cape), the Dymondia genus only has one species!

Dymondia margaretae is a well-known horticultural variety, appreciated worldwide for its ornamental qualities, but is disappearing from its natural habitat (neutral to alkaline sandy soils in coastal regions).

It is sturdy, tidy, low-growing and compact with attractive evergreen silver-blue foliage rather like a mini gazania. Dymondia margaretae is one of the top 5 carpet plants for the garden. (*)

It is perfect for edging, paving or dry rockeries, to decorate the base of topiary shrubs or as an alternative to a lawn in hot to temperate regions.

Grow in the sun in slightly acid to alkaline, light, well-drained soil. Resists summer drought.

Does not like too much damp or over watering.

Hardiness: -6°C
