Native to Manchuria, North Korea and Japan, the Epimedium grandiflora genus forms vigorous 20-30 cm high clumps. Deciduous in winter, it is nevertheless a good ground cover for shady, even dry locations.
Epimedium grandiflorum 'Elfenkoenigin' produces a profusion of little violet-pink flowers in April-May.
Grow in partial shade in ordinary soil.
For woodland, undergrowth, shady borders or embankments.
