Description :

Aster trinervius subsp. ageratoides Ashvi

Aster ageratoides is native to south-east Asia (China, Japan) and is astonishing for its shiny, bright green, oak-leaf type foliage, its resistance and, quite importantly, its vigorous growth which will even keep the grass down!

The 'Ashvi' variety produces an avalanche of white daisy flowers in October/November like a last banquet for the foraging bees before winter sets in.

Our advice: with its rounded habit, ground cover capacity, healthy foliage and free flowering we like to plant Aster ageratoides 'Asvhi' in a bank along a semi-shady path, as a focus plant for an autumnal scene, in front of Aster cordifolius 'Little Carlow' and Aster amethystinus 'Freiburg'. Pruning to mid-height in June will consolidate the plant and bring out the ball shape.
