Onopordum acanthium
Description :
Humongous!
Mrs Jekyll, a very well-respected English gardener from the last century, always had a few cotton thistle seeds in her pocket. So when she found a garden dull or lacking imagination...
... lo and behold, one year later, a monster arose from the earth in a little under two months. Sturdy stems 2.5 m in height. A massive plant never seen before in the neighbourhood.
So if you want something of a monstrosity in your garden, this thistle is the plant for you! For landscaping purposes, Onopordum acanthium is a useful and interesting plant.
Goes well combined with Delphinium hybrid 'Pacific Giant'
Very easy to grow in any garden soil. Sun. The more you care for it, they better it'll grow...
Very close to another species: Onopordium nervosum
