Description :

Aster 'Ezo Marasaki' (*) is a Japanese aster and Asian sub-species of Aster trinervius subsp. ageratoides. It has incredible purple-violet flowers punctuated with prominent golden-yellow stems.

Its late flowering (October-November) prolongs the delights of autumn and, not insignificantly, it offers our bee friends a last few swigs of nectar before winter sets in.

As with all the Aster ageratoides, it has healthy foliage, a rounded habit and covers the ground so quickly that it is not suitable for a small garden.

In a prairie garden we would combine it with grasses to contrast with their dried stalks: Sporobulus, Deschampsia or perennials which have interesting autumn foliage such as Amsonia hubrichtii.

Easy to grow in the sun or light shade in ordinary, slightly acid to alkaline soil. Water during the summer if necessary.

(*) Just to be simple ;-)
