For a romantic blue garden
The Aster x dumosus group probably comes from the cross breeding of Aster dumosus, native to North America and Aster novi-belgii.
Aster x dumosus 'Lady in Blue' is a stocky plant with a rounded habit like a box bush, but it grows nicely and produces delicate, soft blue flowers in September-October.
This is an ideal variety for the edge of a mixed border and it is very easy to propagate by lifting and dividing the clumps.
To produce some wonderful colour combinations we like to plant it with Phlox paniculata 'Blue Paradise', Dianthus amurensis, Geranium 'Rozanne' or with the superb Campanula 'Belle Inconnue'. Silver foliage could also be welcome: Artemisia ludoviciana 'Valérie Finnis', Senecio cineraria 'Silverdust'.
For combinations with hues of pink, please see below.
Grow in the sun or partial shade in ordinary soil, which is not too dry in late summer. Very hardy.

- Plant spacing: 40 cm
