A great find!
The Rudbeckia subtomentosa cultivar is the result of work by the American botanist Henry Eilers who produced it in 2003 in Illinois.
Do you need a vigorous plant that thrives in good garden soil, but is drought tolerant?
Are you after a gigantic and unusual plant?
Armfuls of flowers for luminous, scented bouquets?
Rudbeckia subtomentosa 'Henry Eilers' is a giant that can easily grow to 1.2 - 1.5 metres in height and produces an avalanche of flowers from July to October. Its flowers are quite surprising with their rolled-up, bright yellow petals and grow abundantly for bouquets.
And a bonus! The freshly cut foliage smells like vanilla.
Grow in the sun or light shade in good, soft garden soil, which is well-drained in winter.
