An exclamation mark!
Verbascum phoeniceum 'Violetta', also known as purple mullein or temptress purple, is an easy to grow perennial. In summer it produces long floral stems covered in little mauve to violet flowers and rosette foliage.
Enhance the verticality of its floral stems on the edge of a bed by contrasting it with round-shaped varieties such as (Santolina, Ruta graveolens 'Jackman Blue', Agastache 'Golden Jubilee') or with generous foliage varieties (Stachys byzantina 'Primrose Heron').
Height: 40 - 60 cm. Grow in the sun in ordinary acid to alkaline soil, even poor and dry, but which is well-drained in winter.
Its tendency to reseed freely is enough to keep this adorable perennial going in the garden and makes up for its short lifespan.
For the edge of a sunny border, rockery, gravel garden and troughs.
Maintenance: as the rosette of leaves dislikes winter damp, keep it free from any organic mulch.
