A touch of hidden magic !
Its flowers look as though they are made of tissue paper and they bloom throughout the summer. Hot sun, rockeries and poor, dry soil are made for it!
It remains a perfect green mat throughout the autumn, winter and spring.
Paronychia kapela ssp. serpyllifolia or Mossy Whitlow-wort is a botanical species from the French Pyrenees, the Alps and mountains in North Africa. It is a sturdy, mat-forming, hardy perennial that is indestructible as long as it's planted in porous, poor, soft soil that is well-drained in winter.
In the garden we use Paronychia kapela ssp. serpyllifolia as a rockery plant to edge a sunny border or for a graphic effect planted on stones (see photo).
