Aquilegia 'Black Barlow' is popular for its purple black flowers that look like mini dahlias. It creates a more effective contrast than the other Barlow cultivars when you associate it with white alliums (Allium c.pulchellum 'Album') or other perennials (Dicentra, Amsonia, Phlox, Digitalis, Geranium, Delphinium, etc.)
It is also excellent for its cut flowers, which are long-stemmed and abundant.
