Also known as Dogfennel, Trumpet-weed, Gravelweed.
A large, vigorous and dishevelled eupatorium! It has anise green, fine lace foliage and is easy to grow in ordinary, not too dry soil. Late summer flowering attracts the foraging pollinators and it re-seeds naturally.
Grow Eupatorium capillifolium 'Elegant Plum' in a bed as 'grand bouquet', as a focus plant in a border or as a botanical curiosity, in galvanised tubs on a shady patio in a rich, moist, potting mix. Very effective in semi-aquatic settings with horsetails at the edge of a pond.
