Description :

A cottage garden special.

We are delighted to offer Phlox paniculata 'David'.

Chosen as Perennial Plant of the Year in 2002 this summer phlox has all the qualities we look for in a perennial:

  • pinkish-white scented flowers,
  • continuous flowering from July to September-October,
  • better resistance to diseases (rust),
  • very hardy,
  • and, finally, great performance as a cut flower.

Phlox paniculata 'David' is a cultivar from Bluemount Nurseries (Pennsylvania, USA) and grows up to 1 metre in height. It likes good garden soil and subdued sunlight.

We recommend you combine it with Echinacea, Echinops (A cool combination of pinkish-white and steel blue) and Miscanthus 'Morning Light'

The Perennial Plant Association was established in 1984 and is an American industry association for nurseries, horticulturists, landscape designers and teachers working in the herbaceous plant sector.

Its aim is to bring together professionals, develop educational programmes and promote perennial plants.

The 'Perennial Plant of the Year'® programme was set up in 1990 to select a perennial for the year from thousands of competing plants.

Similar to the Award of Garden Merit organized by the British Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), the 'Perennial Plant of the Year’ chooses plants suitable for a wide range of climatic conditions, which require little care, are fairly resistant to parasites and disease, and have an obvious ornamental quality. The Perennial Plant of The Year never promotes horticultural novelties, as the chosen plant must have been tried and tested in gardens over several years.
