A sensational improvement to the ‘Fireball’ variety, Geum 'Fire Storm’ is a new selection from the American firm Terra Nova Nurseries. It features:
- a more compact habit,
- exceptional scarlet orange flowers with red-edged petals, full of light and colour,
- easy cultivation in any good garden soil.
Height of the foliage: 30 cm. Height of the floral stems: 50 cm
In the garden we like to combine it for contrast with the upright spike flowers of the luminous Kniphofia 'Mango Popsicle’ (another Terra Nova selection) or on a bed of violet-flowering varieties such as (Geranium pyrenaicum 'Bill Wallis', Liatris spicata, Geranium vivace, Campanula 'Sarastro', Campanula 'Kent Belle', Geranium phaeum 'Mourning Widow').
Grow in good garden soil. (to allow Geum 'Fire Storm’ to express its full potential) in the sun (not scorching) or in light shade.
Maintenance: The plant flowers during May and June. You can prolong the flowering by pruning the dried floral stems. Cut back the foliage in the autumn and apply a mulch of rough compost in early spring.
- 12 cm pot
- Hardiness zones : zone 7-10
- Height: 50 to 70cm
- Plant spacing: 60 cm
- Flower colour: orange
- Flowering period: summer flowers
