Description :

A superb selection with semi-double flowers

The flowers of Campanula persicifolia 'Blue Bloomers' are a little bit like old-fashioned petticoats! From early June onwards, its semi-double wide violet-blue blooms, borne on strong stems, provide much awaited punctuation marks in the mixed border. Height of the floral stems: 70 to 90 cm

In the garden, we like to plant this pretty bellflower at the back on a bed behind Anthemis tinctoria (the contrast of cream and violet-blue flowers at the same time works well) or with other perennials which have a rounded habit.

A good cut flower.

Grow in the sun or light shade in good, moist, humus-rich garden soil, which is well-drained in winter. In heavy, clay soil, prepare a planting mix of 1/3 garden earth, 1/3 filter sand (2-5 mm) and 1/3 horticultural compost. You can enrich this mixture with compost, organic fertilizer and amend it with extra lime.

The Campanula persicifolia species is native to large parts of Europe, from Belgium to southern Russian and north-western Turkey. Its habitat is in the prairies, light understory and forest edges up to 2000 m in altitude (Turkey). Hardiness: -25°C
