A rustic, perennial larkspur.
Belladonna delphiniums have greater resistance to wind, powdery mildew and mildew.
They are less spectacular than the grandiflorum varieties, but are nonetheless good garden plants. Delphinium belladonna 'Ballkleid' produces spectacular floral stems with light blue, white-centred blooms from May until the end of July.
Grow in the sun in good garden soil, which is sufficiently drained in winter.
Protect from slugs and snails when planting and at the beginning of spring. Some environmentally-friendly ways of doing so: Ferramol, beer trap, ash, egg shells, pine needles, copper wire or snail-hunting at night!
