Heucherella 'Alabama Sunrise'

Availability : Available

Description :

Heucherella 'Alabama Sunrise' is the first cultivar of the Heucherella genus bred by Terra Nova Nurseries (Oregon, USA). It is a cross between Heuchera x Tiarella; from Heuchera villosa it has inherited better resistance to passing drought, high temperatures and it is also easier to grow.

A chameleon plant. The colour of its foliage changes with the seasons: brilliant golden leaves veined in purple-red in the spring; then, as night-time temperatures drop, the leaves turn to chartreuse green, but keep their red veins. With age the leaves turn an orangey pink. Timid white flowers at the end of spring.

These features are what makes Heucherella 'Alabama Sunrise' such an exceptional perennial.

Accompanying plants: Carex elala 'Aurea', Pulmonaria 'Majesté', Hosta 'Alcyon' or 'Blue Cadet', Dicentra 'King of Earth', or alongside Astilbe chinensis.

Grow in partial shade or in (not too hot) sun in good, moist, humus-rich garden soil, which is well-drained in winter. An excellent plant to grow in pots (try it in a duo with Carex elata 'Aurea')
