The chameleon plant!
Initially introduced by Marco Van Hoort in spring 2005, Rodgersia 'Chocolate Wing' has beautifully ornamental qualities:
- the spring foliage is brown; it turns green at the beginning of the summer, then reddish-bronze and - back to square one - brown as autumn arrives!
- its flowers similarly change colour go from pale pink to bronze red.
'Chocolate Wing' has the same qualities of strong growth and a simply majestic habit as the celebrated and well-known 'Superba' and 'Elegans' varieties all of which have been derived by hybridization of the Rodgersia pinnata species.
