Prairie dropseed is perhaps the finest and most elegant grass from the North American prairies.
In autumn Sporobolus heterolepis takes on the most shimmering tones of dark orange and turns light copper in winter.

This makes it suitable for ornamental use of the highest order, whether in a formal garden or to restore a meadow. For best effects, it is worth planting in mass along a path or at the front of a bed. Height: 75 cm. Cultivation: in the sun in ordinary soil.
