Carex siderosticha 'Lemon Zest'

Description :

It brightens a shady corner.

Native to the woodlands and mountains of Japan, Korea and China, the Siderosticha genus is characterised by its broad, roughly textured leaves which look a bit like bamboo and its suckering rhizomes (fairly slow-growing!). Deciduous and dormant in winter, this broad-leaved sedge likes undergrowth or woodland beds and humus-rich, moist to damp soil. Hardiness: -15 °C

Carex 'Lemon Zest' is an offspring of the already celebrated Carex 'Banana Boat' and the result of work by the Terra Nova Nurseries in America (Oregon, USA).

It has a stable habit and over time will produce large clumps of lemon-yellow leaves. This will brighten up a shady spot in the garden: a bed, pathway or edge of a pond.

On its own, Carex 'Lemon Zest' is also a fabulous focus plant.

In pots, we recommend planting Carex siderosticha 'Lemon Zest' with hostas (Hosta 'Alcyon'), heucheras (Heuchera 'Citronnelle', Heuchera 'Electra', Heuchera 'Mocha'), or primroses.
