There are hundreds of species in the Carex genus, most of which are native to the wetlands of the planet's temperate regions. The variety we are offering comes from the wetlands of the Northern Hemisphere where it forms vast colonies along the banks of streams and ponds.
Carex riparia 'Variegata' is an elegant plant with slender, variegated green and cream leaves. Obviously, given its powerful rhizomes, we will not plant it in the garden,
but rather, it can be very effective grown in a large tub as part of an aquatic composition or in the ground to cover the damp banks of a stream.
Grow in moist to damp soil (water: - 5 cm), in sun or partial shade. Cut back at the end of winter.
