Easy to grow in humus-rich, moist soil in shade or partial shade, Carex 'Silver Sceptre' has lovely luminous, variegated green and silver foliage and forms an elegant clump, which is evergreen in winter.
In the garden we recommend planting it in a rockery or a border with other lovers of the semi-shade, such as: Brunnera, Viola, Primula, Pulmonaria, Helleborus, Polygonatum, Convalaria, etc.
A slow, but sure grower, over time Carex 'Silver Sceptre' forms an attractively dense ground cover that needs a little tidying at the end of winter.
As it is easy to grow and resistant, it can also grow well in a container of a shady patio together with an Ipheion or a Viola.
