Native to Asia, Carex brunnea forms a graceful clump about 50 cm high.

The Carex brunnea 'Variegata' cultivar is exceptional for the quality of its green leaves with white-cream margins.

In the garden, we like to plant it at the edge of a perennial border or in a moist rock garden with Ophiopogon, Heuchera, Primula or in a planter.

It also works well as a house-plant

Height: 50 cm.

Planting distance: 60 cm.

Grow in the sun or light shade in good garden soil, moist to damp, but well-drained. Hardiness: -10°C

Maintenance: cut back the damaged leaves at the end of winter. Mulch with leaf compost.
