Phew! Finally a tall grass for partial shade.
Native to the Missouri woodlands, Hystrix patula or Spreading bottlebrush grass is one of the rare tall grasses to tolerate partial shade. With its spike bottlebrush inflorescences and its curving habit, this is an elegant grass that adds a natural touch to a shady border or under deciduous trees. Mass planting is suitable to naturalise a partial shade area in the garden.
Height: 1 metre. Planting distance: 80 cm. Grow in soft, permeable and, preferably, sandy soil.
Its dried inflorescences can be used for bouquets of dried flowers. Very hardy.
