A blue hedgehog in my garden.
Native to the coastal dunes of Europe, Asia and Africa Corynephorus canescens forms a dense, spiky ball.
Its blue leaves turn pink as they wither. The unusual appearance of this small grass makes it even more attractive in the garden.
Plant it in a sunny spot in ordinary, very well-drained, neutral to alkaline soil. It is a good idea to add some rough sand or pozzolan (5 mm) as excess damp in the winter is detrimental to the plant's growth.
Mass planting of Corynephorus canescens is beautifully effective if you space the plants with a 50 cm planting distance or together with Stachys 'Silver Carpet' .
For rockery gardens, troughs or pots.
