Small and charming
Carex conica is a a species native to the wooded slopes of medium-sized mountains in Japan and South Korea. Our variety comes from a Japanese nursery and forms very attractive low clumps with fine, shiny dark evergreen (in mild climates) leaves edged in white.
Carex conica 'Snowline' is impeccable all year round, an excellent grass to adorn a small shady corner between two stones or a shady rock garden or border. And it's not bad in a pot, either!
Grow in partial shade in moist to damp, humus-rich soil.
Maintenance: mulch with compost (some leaf content) and trim the damaged leaves with fine shears at the beginning of spring. Insignificant flowers.
Synonym: Carex conica 'Variegata', Carex conica 'Marginata' or Carex conica 'Hime Kan Suge'
