Oriental Fountain Grass
Unlike Pennistetum alopecuroides, Pennisetum orientale is originally from Asia and has a denser habit. It flowers abundantly from the beginning of the summer. Flowering will continue until the first winter frosts as long as the gardener has cut back the first dried inflorescences.
Pennisetum orientale 'Karley Rose' was first introduced as a new variety in 2005 by the Sunny Border Nursery (USA). Its inflorescences are unique, incredibly feathery and beautifully tinged with pink-purple hues. Height: 100 cm
We love when it comes into flower when the inflorescence unfolds from the floral stem.
The genus has some specific growing requirements: ordinary, permeable, soft soil and then sun and heat to bring out the flowers. Hardiness: - 15°C. Protective winter mulch is needed in continental and mountain climates.
- 0,7 litre pot
- Hardiness zones : zone 8-10
- Height: 70 to 100cm
- Plant spacing: 90 cm
- Flower colour: pink
- Flowering period: summer flowers
