Discovered and introduced by Karl Foerster
Festuca mairei really did deserve his attention! Atlas fescue forms an attractive, tidy clump about 60 cm in height, which is topped off by straight inflorescences.
It is slow-growing, but long-lived and likes full sun in ordinary, well-drained soil. Good resistance to dry, warm summers. Very hardy.
