A flash of blue before winter.
Aster amethystinus 'Freiburg' is a selection by Ewal Hügin (Gärtnerei Hügin, Freiburg, Germany) produced from a cross between Aster ericoides X Aster novae-angliae. It is resistant to powdery mildew, has fine foliage and is very floriferous! All put together this makes for a great horticultural variety.
In October-November it is literally covered in innumerable lavender-blue daisies.
As a focus plant for its vigorous growth and great habit, we like to combine it with Aster cordifolius 'Little Carlow' which it follows perfectly.
For the back of a mixed border, natural garden, prairie garden.
Grow in the sun or slight shade in ordinary soil, which is not too dry in summer.
An excellent cut flower
