Allium victorialis 'Cantabria'

Availability : Available

Description :

Victory Onion, Alpine Leek

This superb specimen is native to the alpine meadows of the autonomous province of Cantabria in north western Spain (rocky grassland, moors, understory and glades). Allium victorialis 'Cantabria' forms a clump of remarkable foliage, somewhat similar to the Convallaria (*) and produces cream-white globe flowers in late spring.

In the garden, we like this Allium for its beautiful foliage and ability to flower even in damp shade! These two features make it a great plant for a shady border or at the front of a fern bed.

Accompanying plants : Iris confusa, Matteucia struthiopteris, Liriope 'Silver Dragon'

Grow in the sun (morning) in dense shade under cover of deciduous trees in humus-rich, light and stony, moist to damp soil.

(*) wide, shiny paddle-shaped leaves.1
