One of the first to flower
Native to the rocky highlands of the Caucasus (Turkey, Iran - altitudes of 1500-3000 m), Ranunculus kochii is close to Ranunculus ficaria, but produces more flowers and is a charming little rockery plant. It has rounded, dark green, lustrous leaves topped by a bouquet of yellow flowers as winter ends.
This plant is perfect for damp rockeries, shady borders or to grow in troughs. Preferably grow in the sun in humus-rich, well-drained soil, but which is kept constantly moist.
